民国时期，老百姓将金条俗称为“黄鱼”。那时金条一般是不参与普通市场流通的，需到银行、钱庄兑换成银元，才能消费使用。身处动乱时期，稍微有钱的人家，都会在家中备上两三根“小黄鱼”，以备不时之需。

新中国成立后，大陆民间留存不多的厂条经过银行兑换、政府回收熔化，加之民间有将金条融化改做首饰的传统，到如今，民国时期的金条存世数量已非常稀少，保存完好的中央造币厂金条更是非常少见，又因厂条由政府机构铸造发行，具有权威性和标志意义。

此枚金条为民国时期同类“大西南八库地下金条”私造金条。极具收藏投资价值。
